It was 23rd December in 2009, and a band of spirited friends came together to do something really awesome during the Christmas season. While we are celebrating the Christmas season with our family, friends and loved ones, we also wanted to spread a little joy to the less-privileged people around. We thought about the meaning of Christmas, and decided that it must mean much more than all that extra shopping, food and presents. So, we decided to do something really meaningful!
We wanted to share the fun with a really special group of kids. They were unique because they were on a different path towards life. So, in 2009, we adopted Marymount Centre Singapore for our pet social service project. We ran exciting family games, Christmas sing-a-longs, contests and of course, the super-fun Project Runway! It was really great to see the kids and their family members working together to dress up to prepare for the catwalk! Everyone had lots of fun. In addition, we also dished out little Christmas gifts for everyone. Apart from the onsite program, we also ran a sales drive to help out in the home's finances. All in all, we sold S$833.25 worth of blessing stars to our friends, colleagues and family. Netting out the project expenses (ie gifts, donation items, props and decorations etc), we donated the balance of S$604.45 to Marymount Centre Singapore.

Marymount Centre is a social service run by the Congregation of the Good Shepherd Sisters to reach out to children, women and families who are marginalized and to facilitate reconciliation with their families.

Ahuva Good Shepherd is a place of love and solace for children and their families. This is their new home where life is shared and hope is built. Through the service, Ahuva Good Shepherd aims to:-
- Foster positive family relationships through effective communication and understanding between children and their families
- Share lives through reaching out to children who need a nurturing and conducive environment by journeying with them in their healing and growth process
Ahuva Good Shepherd provides nurturing and safe residential care to girls aged between 4 and 16 years old. These girls come from single parent families or from families in which parents are not able to cope with the child and/or experiencing marital discord.
At the end of the day, everyone brought something back home - it was a smile in our hearts, and the feeling that you had played a part in brightening someone else's life. You see, it's like this: happiness spreads. Indeed, it is a privilege to give. So, we urge you to give your time, energy, money or any other contributions you could think of to the less privileged in 2010. No contribution is too small to make a difference.
To give back to society. That's what we want to do, every Christmas:)
